Shot locally in Westwold, Beyond the Woods is a taught drama from writer/ director Brayden DeMorest-Purdy who will be in attendance for a post film Q&A along with producer Nina Werewka and actor Jeff Evans. Who knows, we may even get some surprise guests as local crew and performers worked on the film.
Brayden DeMorest-Purdy – Writer/ Director
Brayden DeMorest-Purdy is a movie director, writer, and producer. He is originally from Toronto, Ontario and developed the passion for filmmaking at a very young age. Brayden started to write and direct independent films with his friends and turned this passion into his own production company, The Nerdy Kid Productions. He started his journey as an audio technician at a local television studio Rogers TV. Over the next two years at the TV station he began directing live TV shows, including a popular live breakfast television show called DayTime. He moved to Vancouver to follow his passion and his dream. Brayden graduated Vancouver Film School's Film Production Program, with honors, while majoring in Directing and Cinematography. Since then, Brayden has begun to expand The Nerdy Kid Productions, adding commercials, music videos, and feature films to the company's resume.
Nina Werewka - Producer
Nina was born in Katowice, Poland. In her teenage years, she traveled the world, living in Edinburgh, Scotland and Sydney, Australia. She attended the University of Silesia in Poland where she graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Film Production. She worked in the Polish film industry, doing short films, commercials and TV shows for one of the biggest Polish TV networks. After one year of gaining experience in her home country, she decided to move to Canada and attend the Film Production program at Vancouver Film School, majoring in Producing and Cinematography. Nowadays, she works as a Producer for the Vancouver based film production company - The Nerdy Kid Productions, which focuses on short films, music videos and feature films.
Jeff Evans - Todd
Born in Calgary, Jeff Evans-Todd was raised in multiple cities and towns across Canada's prairies. He moved to Vancouver shortly after high school, began his training at Vancouver Acting School, then soon began auditioning. Following that, it was only a few short months until he was giving voices to several characters in Lego's Legends of Chima. Since then, he has worked on several short films and other indie projects, SyFy's Olympus, A&E's Bates Motel, ABC's When We Rise, and Barbie's The Pearl Princess, to name a few, as well as performing in theatre productions of Bert V. Royal's Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead, and Adam Pettle's Therac 25, among others.
